At the invitation of Policy Coordination and Advisory Services of the Presidency of Republic of South Africa and the Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center of Arab Republic of Egypt, Vice President Sun Xiaoyu visited South Africa and Egypt during December 4 to 15, 2007, heading a DRC delegation composed of Dr. Ding Ningning, Director General of Social Development Research Department, Dr. Zhang Xiaoji, Director General of Department of Foreign Economic Relations, Ms. Ren Xingzhou, Director of Institute of Market Economy, Ms Jiang Xiheng, Deputy Division Director of International Cooperation Department and Mr. Li Qing from Research Department of Rural Economy. The Delegation met with senior officials from the Department of Treasury, Department of Housing, Department of Health, Department of Social Development and National Development Agency of South Africa and the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development, Ministry of Trade and Industry of Egypt and had discussions on housing, health, education, anti-poverty and other major social policies of these two countries and introduced China’s experiences. The delegation also visited Ismailia Governorate in Egypt and the Suez Canal Authority and exchanged views on strengthening economic cooperation between China and Egypt.
