DRC President Zhang Yutai visits Republic of Korea and Japan

A DRC delegation led by President Zhang Yutai visited Japan and Republic of Korea on May 14-23. The delegation focused their study visits on the advanced technologies and experiences in Japan and Republic of Korea in the policy field of energy conservation and emission reduction and exchanged views through extensive discussions with relevant government departments and policy research institutes on issues of mutual communication and cooperation. In Republic of Korea, President Zhang had meetings with Mr. Lee Yunho, Minister of Economy, Mr. Sakong Il, President of Committee for Intensifying National Competitiveness, and Mr. Hyun Jung Taik, President of Korea Development Institute (KDI), and Mr. Lee Jang-Moo, President of Seoul National University. At the invitation of the hosts, Mr. Zhang addressed an audience of 120 representatives from the political, industrial and academic circles. The members of DRC delegation also had an academic exchange with experts from KDI. In Japan, President Zhang Yutai met with Mr. Masashi Nakano, Senior Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Mr. Ben Kimura, Senior Vice-Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy, and Mr. Fujio Cho, Chairman of Japan-China Economic Association & Chairman and Representative Director of Toyota Motor Corporation. The delegation also visited Toyota Motor and the environmental facilities at Nippon Steel Corporation. The members of DRC delegations included Dr. Zhang Xiaoji, Director General of Foreign Economic Relations, Mme. Sun Lanlan, Director General of International Cooperation Department, Dr. Feng Fei, Director General of Industrial Economy, as well as Ms. Yu Jun and Mr. Lai Youwei.
