The Sino-Japan Seminar on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection was held in Beijing International Hotel on October 26. The seminar was sponsored by DRC and supported by Hitachi Ltd. Mr. Zhang Yutai, DRC President, attended the seminar and delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. Dr. Liu Shijin, DRC Vice President, presided over the opening ceremony and made concluding remarks. At the invitation by the Chinese host, senior official from Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), senior executives from Hitachi and other senior Japanese experts made presentations systematically introducing the Japanese experiences in energy conservation and emission reduction particularly since the energy crises in the early 1970s. Senior representatives from relevant Chinese government organizations made comments before the free discussions among about 200 Chinese participants from central and local government organizations, enterprises and research institutions.
