DRC President Zhang Yutai met with Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella, Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Beijing on November 10th. Dr. Yumkella expressed the great attention attached by UNIDO on expanding cooperation with China and proposed collaborations with DRC on programs covering UNIDO’s Industrial Development Report and China’s industrial development studies. President Zhang responded positively on the cooperation with UNIDO in the areas of energy saving, emission reduction and industrial restructuring and expressed the wish for UNIDO to play an active role in promoting the transfer of technologies in energy efficiency and environmental protection from developed countries to developing countries, in response to the global challenge of climate change. The conversation proceeded in a friendly and sincere atmosphere. Mme. Sun Lanlan, Director General of DRC’s International Cooperation Department, Mr. Feng Fei, Director General of the Research Department of Industrial Economy, and Ms. Jiang Xiheng, Division Director of International Cooperation Department, were present at the meeting.
