DRC, Shell summarize research on energy development strategy

Jul 29,2013

A summarization seminar for a research project on China's Mid- and Long-Term Energy Development Strategy was held at the Chinese Academy of Engineering in Beijing on July 25.

The research project, which began in March 2011, is a cooperative study of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) and the Shell Group. The 500,000-word research report addresses the energy supply and demand situations both at home and abroad, innovations in the field of energy, and mid- and long-term goals in energy development in China.

According to the report, China should enhance safety, greening and efficiency to develop its energy sector. The report also illustrates China's strategic policy orientation for the next 20 years.

Li Wei, minister of the DRC, and Peter Voser, CEO of Shell, chaired the seminar. Other participants included Xu Kuangdi, former president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Wu Xinxiong, minister of the National Energy Administration; and related leaders and experts from State Grid, Sinopec and Tsinghua University.
