Zhang Junkuo, Vice-President (Vice-Minister) , member of the Leading Party Members’ Group,and research fellow of DRC, was born in Lintong, Shaanxi province in June 1961. He got a Bachelor's Degree in economics from Department of Economics of Northwest University in July 1982, and a Master's Degree in economics at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in May 1985. From June 1985 to September 1993, he worked in DRC as the Vice Section Chief, Section Chief, Assistant Research Fellow and Associate Research Fellow. From November 1988 to February 1990, he worked as a Research Fellow at Hong Kong Branch of Xinhua News Agency. From September 1993 to November 1998, he worked as Deputy Director and Research Fellow of Comprehensive Economic Research Department of DRC. He was appointed Director of Market Economy Institute in November 1998 and then Director of Development Strategy and Regional Economy Research Department of DRC in September 2004. He took the post as Director of General Office of DRC in November 2010 and member of Leading Party Members' Group in September 2011. He was appointed Vice President of DRC in March 2013. He has done extensive research on macro-economics, regional economy and economic reform and was awarded government special allowance in 1997 and won First Prize of China Development Research in 1999 and Sun Yefang Economics Prize in 2001. He was a visiting scholar at Loyola University of Chicago and World Bank, and a project consultant for World Bank and Asian Development Bank. He is concurrently tutor of PhD candidates at Northwest and Northeast Universities.
