The China Development Forum 2014 (CDF2014) - approved by the State Council and sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council - will be held from March 22 to 24 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. The forum, with the theme "China: To Comprehensively Deepen Reform", will focus on crucial issues including new-type urbanization, reform of the fiscal and taxation system, construction of a social security system and a new system of open economy.
2014 marks the first year for China to fully carry out the resolutions in the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, as well as the outset of comprehensively deepening reform. The Chinese government aims to launch a series of major reforms this year, and the international community is keen to see how China becomes more open to promote reforms in a systematic, integrated and concerted way, and how the country lays a solid foundation for the construction of socialist modernization.
The CDF - the first large-scale and high-profile international conference right after the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) every year - adheres to the principle of "engaging with the world for the common prosperity," and serves as an important platform for the Chinese government to carry out candid exchanges and discussions with the global business elite, heads of international organizations as well as experts from China and overseas. Initiated in 2000, CDF has made remarkable contributions in policy exchanges and international collaboration between China and the rest of the world.
