The Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) and the Henan provincial government signed a strategic research cooperation framework agreement in Beijing on March 11 with DRC Minister Li Wei and Henan Governor Xie Fuzhan.
The two sides will work together to carry out key project research on national strategies, train policy consultation researchers and cooperate in policy advice.
Xie showed his gratitude to the DRC for the long-term support and help. According to Xie, the State Council has given approval to the province to build a core area of grain production, Zhongyuan new district and Zhengzhou Airport, which will put Henan on an even more important position in national development strategy. The province is faced with huge development opportunities, as well as great pressure in structural adjustment. It is willing to seek wider, deeper and more beneficial cooperation with the DRC.
Li said that the DRC is a comprehensive policy research and consulting institution providing policy options and consulting advice to the State Council. It also offers consulting services for ministries and local governments.
As China is in a crucial stage to accelerate economic development transformation, Henan province has many topics worth researching, such as overcapacity governance, employment and urbanization. The strategic cooperation will help better utilize think-tank resources and share outcomes of development.
