Research Report No 144, 2013
Abstract:
This report comes up with three historical tasks to realize China's urbanization strategy: giving citizenship to migrant workers, infrastructure, and spatial layout of urban areas. The report is based on an understanding of the strategic significance of China's urbanization, and of the relationship between urbanization and industrialization, economic sustainable development, agricultural industrialization, and building a new socialist countryside.
The report also focuses on the development path for China's urbanization strategy. First, the process has to adjust measures to local conditions. Second, it should follow a step-by-step process. Third, it should have late-mover advantage. Lastly, system reform should be involved.
