When the China Development Research Foundation held a seminar on the "Rise of Metropolitan Regions: Experiences and Policy Implications", in Beijing, May 28-29, Zhang Laiming, a vice-minister from the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), was on hand to deliver a keynote speech for the opening ceremony.

There was a great deal of discussion at the seminar on the process of development in metropolitan regions, the experience involved, and the lessons to be learned, especially for China's future development.
