The minister of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), Li Wei, led a team to make a survey on affordable housing and reconstruction of shantytowns in Nanning city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, from Aug 21 to 22.

The research team surveyed a government-subsidized housing project, a public rental housing project for sanitation workers, a shanty area reconstruction project and resettlement housing.

Minister Li Wei gave a speech themed "Science and Technology Innovation and China's Economic Transformation and Upgrade" during the survey. He was joined by Lai Youwei, research fellow; Deng Yusong, vice-director-general of the market economy department; and Li Ming, associate research fellow of DRC.
