Abstract:
The spatial distribution of China's water resources is in serious imbalance. Water is abundant in the north while lacking in the south. Along with the rapid development of the social and economic endeavors, the project of diverting water from south to north has become a water conservancy project with enormous importance and necessity for optimizing the allocation of water resources in China. The project will produce far-reaching impact during and after its construction. The paper examines the macro impact of the project from the perspectives of economy, society and environment, and points to several important issues that warrant attention in the process of project implementation.
