Abstract:
A new management standard, SA 8000, is succeeding the ISO9000 and ISO 14000. It is a double-edged sword. It could serve as a license for the enterprise to join the supply chain (production chain) of the multi-national companies if it is properly treated; at the same time it is also a driving force to upgrade working conditions at home, reflecting the principle of "putting people first". However, it could also become a new technical obstacle in export if it is not dealt with seriously.
