Problems in the construction of China's air transport hubs and relevant policy suggestion

By Lin Fayuan

Abstract:

There are three problems in the construction of China's air transport hubs: 1. Wrong positioning in the constructors' identity; 2. Overemphasis or exaggeration concerning the importance of these hubs and underestimation of risks and inadequacies; 3. Lack of market mechanism and over-reliance on policy support. To solve these problems, the author proposes the following measures: 1. The positions of the various parties participating in the hubs’ construction and the relations between them should be clarified; 2. The construction projects need overall planning and step-by-step implementation; 3. Government departments responsible for the work concerned should play a more active role in the organization and coordination of the construction of air transport hubs; 4. The construction of air transport hubs should go hand in hand with the development and tapping of the resources of China's aviation rights; 5. The airlines between "pairs of cities" should be a necessary supplement to the construction of air transport hubs; 6. Regional airline transportation should be developed to provide support for the construction of air transport hubs.
