Date: 2001/11/15

Abstract:

Over the first three quarters of the year, China's economy has maintained a fairly good momentum of steady growth. It is expected that the annual growth rate will be in the order of 7.5%. When looking ahead towards 2002, the world economy will remain in the doldrums; and the basis for expansion of domestic demand will not be stable. Attention should be paid to the grimness of the situation, effort should be made to improve the policy effect of the domestic demand expansion, the pace of reform should be stepped up and the institutional obstacles should be removed to prepare for the WTO accession.
