Abstract:

Through on the spot interview and survey, the author gave an introduction of the development of agriculture, rural areas and agro-economy in Laos after the implementation of the policy of "innovation and opening-up". The article held that the realization of industrialization and modernization in an underdeveloped country like Laos should rest on reforming traditional agriculture. It suggested that China attach importance to developing cooperation on agriculture with Laos and other neighboring countries in Southeast Asia and explore ways for promoting cooperation on agriculture in Southern Asia under the framework of Free Trade Area with ASEAN.
