Abstract:

Since the 9th Five-Year-Plan period, there has been a rapid development in water saving in agriculture. However, the development speed and scale still lagged behind compared to the demand as required by national economic and social development and compared to the shortage of water resources. The strategic role and connotation of economizing on water in agriculture are discussed, and current status and existing problems are analyzed in this paper. The target and the overall strategic measures are proposed to promote water saving in agriculture in an all-round way.
