Research Report No 68, 2015 (Total 4753)

Abstract:

With further development of economic globalization, China's food industry enterprises are confronting competition from well-performed international enterprises. According to the evaluation indicator of international competitiveness, the scale factor, efficiency factor, growth factor and internationalization factor are taken into consideration to calculate the international competitiveness index of China's food industry enterprises and horizontally compare with well-performed international enterprises. The statistics show that China's food industry enterprises are facing issues like weak innovation, inadequate capacity and motivation for managing international business, slow pace of internationalization, low brand international influence as well as food safety issues facing the entire food industry. China's food industry calls for further improved food safety regulation system and appropriate addressing of long-standing problems. In order to sharpen the international competitive edge, food industry enterprises need guidance to shoulder their social responsibility, enhance their innovation ability, promote their brand awareness and boost their ability for managing international business.
