This book has six chapters and three specific topics. Chapter 1 gives an introduction to the research background and significance, rationale, research data and methods, study focus and main innovative points. Chapter 2 is about the basic situationof the employment of rural migrant population. Chapter 3 is about group features and impacts of rural migrant population living in different areas and working in different fields. Chapter 4 gives an analysis of the expectations of rural migrant population living in different areas and working in different fields. Chapter 5 illustrates the main problems facing rural migrant population to get citizenship in nearby towns and cities. Chapter 6 offers the basic approaches to and policy options on urbanized agricultural population. The three specific topics cover respectively the cost analysis for rural migrant population to get citizenship from different tiers of cities, the factors affecting development expectations of rural migrant population living in different areas and working in different fields and an analysis on returned rural migrant workersto their home towns relating to at what appropriate time they return home as well as their work and life experience after moving back.

This book is written by Dr. Jin Sanlin, Director of the First Research Office of the Research Department of Rural Economy of DRC.The author made a number of field surveys and profound studies and analysis prior to the writing of the book. Based on his research findings, he also made several modifications and revisions in the first edition. Due to limited time and knowledge, there may be unavoidably mistakes and drawbacks in the book.
