Currently, the progress of technology and the changes of people’s deliberations towards the fast moving global landscape are speeding up the reforms of global governance system from different aspects. In this context, the Belt and Road Initiative has not only strengthened people’s confidence in enhancing globalization, but also made significant contributions to optimizing the global governance system through both its concepts and contents.

The reforms of the global governance system are pressing ahead with a swift pace. The progress of technology, the changes of global landscape and people’s deliberation theories are advancing the reforms of the global governance system from different aspects. In addition, the reforms also require domestic changes of political and economic institutions.

The Belt and Road Initiative is characterized by three features which have made tangible contributions to global governance. As a new Initiative in the global governance system, it covers many regions in a multi-tiered and multilateral mode.

China should define its role accurately and improve its soft and hard power to get involved in the global governance. First, China should define its role in the world performance with a targeted manner. Second, China should lose no time in strengthening its hard power so as to make more contributions to improving the global governance. Third, China should strengthen its soft power, which generally refers to the attraction of a country to other countries in terms of its institutions, ideology, development mode, culture and relevant factors. Soft power also includes a country’s ability to propose new initiatives in the global governance system, its coordinating mechanism of negotiations with other countries, and the number of talents at home.
