Wang Yiming, Vice President (Vice Minister), member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and research fellow of DRC.

He was born in Shanghai in August 1959.

He took his first job in July 1977 and joined the CPC in May 1989. He graduated from Nankai University in July 1989 with a PhD Degree in Economics.

From August 1989 to March 1998, he worked respectively as Head of Office, Director Assistant, Deputy Director at the Institute of Spatial Planning and Regional Economy(ISPRE)of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). In 1997, he was employed as a research fellow. From August 1993 to August 1994, he studied as a visiting scholar at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Leuven in Belgium. From March 1996 to March 1997, he worked as Assistant to Mayor of Xiangtan City, Hunan Province.

From March 1998 to April 2014, he worked at the Academy of Macroeconomics Research (AMR) of NDRC and took the posts respectively as Assistant President, Vice President, Party Secretary and Executive Vice President. During that period, he also served concurrently as Director of Department of Information Research and Director of Institute of Spatial Planning and Regional Economy, AMR.

From April 2014 to June 2015, he was Deputy Secretary General of the National Development and Reform Commission.

From June 2015, he was appointed as Vice President of the Development Research Center of the State Council and member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and research fellow of DRC.

He is a part-time doctoral supervisor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, professor of Renmin University, Vice President of China Urban Financial Society. In addition, he is adviser of a number of local governments.

He has long been engaged in research on macroeconomic issues, mainly relating to macroeconomic policy, economic and social development planning, science and technology policy, industrial development and policy as well as regional economic and policy. He has published more than 100 academic papers and theoretical articles on important journals both at home and abroad. As an expert he enjoys special government allowance. He has won several awards for outstanding research achievements.
