Hou Weining, research fellow and former Vice-Director-General of the Information Center of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC)
Hou Weining is an ethnic Han Chinese born in the city of Nanjing, Jiangsu province. She is currently a research fellow at the DRC.
March 1974 Hou started her career in Zhouhe Commune, Xin county, in the city of Xinyang, Henan province.
1982 Hou graduated from PLA University of Science and Technology's school of communication engineering (formerly the Nanjing Institute of Communication Engineering) with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
July 1982 Hou worked in the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) regiment and research institution as an assistant engineer, engineer, senior engineer and vice-director of the research laboratory.
August 1994 Hou studied at the University of Massachusetts as a visiting scholar in the department of computer science.
August 1997 Hou worked as a deputy-director, director, associate research fellow and research fellow in the network department of the DRC's Information Center.
March 1998 Hou served as general manager assistant, vice-general-manager and vice-president of SRIT, and general manager of DRCNet.
March 2007 Hou received an MBA at the school of economics and management of Tsinghua University.
Hou works in computer applications, database software development and information management. She has participated in dozens of informatization research projects and in the development of database application software, winning many scientific and technological progress prizes.
She has been engaged in planning and construction of the DRC's information platform, as well as the building and operation of the DRC's information network. She is also vice-chairman of the China Information Economics Society and a member of council of the Beijing Internet Association.
