Xia Bin

Xia Bin is honorary Director-General of the Research Institute of Finance of DRC, research fellow and Counselor of the State Council;Chairman of China Chief Economist Forum;Chairman of Beijing Contemporary Economics Foundation.

He is tutor of PhD candidates, expert of the National Philosophy and Social Science Planning and Review Group, a member of the Chinese Economists 50 Forum, Executive Director of the China Society for Finance and Banking, Director of the Editorial Committee of the Banker, a consultant for the Shanghai, Beijing, and relevant governments, a part-time professor at Peking University and Zhejiang University and the Chinese Academy of Governance, a member of the Academic Committee of Post-doctoral Research Station of People's Bank of China, chief economist of China Mergers & Acquisitions Association.

He was a former member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People's Bank of China. From the early 1990s, he took the posts respectively as Deputy Director of the Financial Research Institute of the People's Bank of China, Director of the Exchange Department of China Securities Regulatory Commission, General Manager of Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Head of the Policy Research Office of the People's Bank of China and Director-General of the Financial Regulation Department of Non-Banking Financial Institutions.

He has received the following honors and awards:

First and second prizes awarded by China Society for Finance and Banking in 1990 for his outstanding financial papers Empirical Research on China's Money Supply Theories and Research Report on the Operation Mechanism of Chinese Science and Technology Loans.

Sun Yefang Economic Science Award in 2002 for his paper Money Supply Should Not Be the Only Intermediate Target of Monetary Policy.

Financial Book Award given by China Business News and Xincheng Fund for his book China Financial Strategy: 2020, China Development Research Award given by DRC and first prize of Government Policy-making Consultation Award given by Shanghai Municipal Government.

He enjoys special government allowance.

His research field covers macro policy, monetary policy, financial regulation and capital market research.
