Zhang Yongsheng |
Zhang Yongsheng,Chief Expert on Climate Change and Green Growth, PhD in economics, Vice-Director-General and research fellow of Department of Development Strategy and Regional Economy of DRC, and Visiting Professor at Renmin University of China.
He was born in the city of Shishou, Hubei province in 1970. After graduation from Wuhan University in 1994, he had postgraduate study in Renmin University of China and passed out in 2000. From 2001 to 2003, he did postdoctoral research in Monash University of Australia and worked as a visiting scholar in United Nations University, World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU/WIDER) from 2003 to 2004.
His research interests mainly focus on development economics, climate change & green growth, structural reforms in China. He is the author of some influential policy reports, including "Seizing the Opportunity of Green Development in China" in China 2030, a joint report of World Bank and DRC. In recent years, he has been doing systematic theoretic and policy research on climate change and green growth (CCGG) in the perspective of the division of labor towards creating a new narrative of CCGG, as well as on how to achieve the paradigm shift of development in China, especially on how to accelerate the development in poor regions through green development. He is the author of a host of refereed papers and two monographs New Classical Economics and Inframarginal Analysis (With Xiaokai Yang) and Irrelevance of the Size of the Firm: Theory and Evidence.
