Zhao Jinping, research fellow and former Director-General of the Research Department of Foreign Economic Relations, Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC)

From 1978-1982, he studied at the Mathematics Department of Shanxi University. From 1982-1983, he engaged in advanced studies at the Planning and Statistics Department of Hubei College of Finance and Economics (now Zhongnan University of Economics and Law). In 1987, from February to July, he was sent abroad to learn Japanese sponsored by the government when he studied at Dalian University of Foreign Languages. From 1988-1994, he studied at graduate school of Rikkyo University, Japan and got respectively Master's Degree and PhD Degree in economics.

From 1976-1978, he was a worker at Xin county transportation bureau, Shanxi province. From 1982-1995, he worked as lecturer in the Economics Department of Shanxi University. From 1995-1998, he was Director and associate research fellow in the Research Department of Foreign Economic Relations of DRC. During that period, from 1994-1995, he was visiting fellow in the Industry Institute of Keio University and visiting fellow in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry in Japan as well. From 1998-2000, he was Deputy Director-General and research fellow of the Research Department of Macro-economy of DRC. From 2000-present, he has been working in the Research Department of Foreign Economic Relations of DRC respectively as Deputy Director-General and Director-General of the Research Department of Foreign Economic Relations of DRC.

He is concurrently Executive Director of China International Trade Association, Executive Director of Chinese Association for International Understanding, director of the Chinese Institute of Foreign Affairs, Director of China International Culture Exchange Center, Vice President of China Association for Japanese Economic Studies, Vice President of China Association for Latin American Studies and Director of China-Korea Friendship Association. His research field covers macro-economy, international economy, foreign economic policy and cross-border investment.

He has won the following honors and awards.

1st prize of China Development Research Award.

3rd prize of China Development Research Award (twice).

2nd prize of Anzijie International Trade Research Award (twice).

3rd prize of Commerce Policy Research Award given by the Ministry of Commerce.

DRC Annual Excellent Research Report Prize (twice).

He was awarded government special allowance in 2001.
