Abstract: China now leads the world in terms of the development speed of financial technology (fintech for short). Fintech has played an active role in boosting the development of inclusive finance, improving the efficiency of financial operation, enhancing the capability of risk prevention and control, and fleshing out the performance of financial supervision. The development of fintech will continue to deeply influence and even restructure the financial industry. The integration of fintech companies and traditional financial institutions will continue booming. But it should be noted that the development of fintech is facing the problems of inadequate industrial planning and supervision, increased financial risks, uneven industrial development and insufficient protection of information and data security. In order to standardize and enhance the development of fintech, promote the transformation of the financial industry and prevent and control relevant risks, efforts need to be made to formulate strategic plans for the development of fintech and improve supporting policies; strengthen and improve financial supervision, establish a fintech-based“regulatory sandbox” system and try the application of regulatory technology; promote cooperation between fintech companies and financial institutions, including small- and medium-sized financial institutions; strengthen legislation and protection of information security, further refine legal provisions and regulatory standards for Internet and information security, advance lawmaking for data protection, and encourage local companies to try out the above-mentioned measures.
