DRC Vice-President visits Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia

Ma Jiantang, Vice-President of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), led a delegation to the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia from June 27 to July 6.

They conducted research on promoting the Belt and Road Initiative and deepening trade and investment cooperation with those countries.

During the visit, Ma met with 10 government officials at the ministerial level or above, and attended 21 meetings, seminars, special lectures and other activities. Local media rated the visits a complete success.

During the stay in the Philippines, Ma exchanged views with President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Nakao Takehiko and Philippine officials on ADB and the Philippines' participation in the Belt and Road Initiative. Ma gave a speech on "Towards a high quality development road" to ADB officials and experts, which introduced the strategic choices and major initiatives in China's economy from its high-speed growth stage to a high-quality development stage.

Ma was also invited to give a special report on the macroeconomic situation and the real estate market in China to certain embassies in the Philippines.

During his stay in Malaysia, Ma learned about the policies of the new government and the economic and social development strategy and status of the country, and discussed the Belt and Road Initiative.

During his visit to Indonesia, Ma had a meeting with Indonesian officials and experts and scholars from think tanks, universities and research institutions on the Indonesian economy and social development, and the participation of the country in the construction of the Belt and Road. Ma also conducted field research at the Malacca Strait.
