Research Report, No.103, 2018 (Total 5378) 2018-6-28

Abstract: To put into practice the important arrangements made by General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping as well as the specific requirements made by Du Jiahao, Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee, China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) conducted field surveys in three counties in Hunan province including Sangzhi, Guzhang and Tongdao in April 2018, and held meetings and discussions with responsible members from the education department, poverty alleviation office and health commission of Hunan province. The children’s development programs have made initial progress in these three counties, which have laid a foundation for the future work relating to poverty alleviation. But there still remain some problems to be addressed such as limited beneficiary coverage, inadequate inputs, insufficient faculty members and weak enforcement for the implementation of certain programs. The relevant departments of Hunan province expressed their will to pay high attention to these issues, increase inputs through the overall arrangements by provincial government, reinforce program implementation and special supervision, and strengthen cooperation with CDRF in a bid to realize the goals set out for anti-poverty and children’s development programs in Hunan province.
