Abstract: In September, 2014, the three leaders of China, Mongolia and Russia met for their first meeting in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and made an official announcement about the joint building of China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor (CMREC). CMREC is one of the important corridors proposed in the Belt and Road initiative and also a crucial passage connecting Mongolia and Russia and establishing an economic circle with Europe. Promoted by the three heads of state, its construction has been advanced steadily. Based on the systematic analysis of internal and external conditions, status quo and problems of China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor construction, as well as the participation of relevant areas in China and development pathways, the research team summarizes and puts forward the overall ideas on the construction of CMREC. Firstly, the significance of building China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor should be fully understood from various perspectives; secondly, the positioning of CMREC in the Belt and Road initiative should be further clarified; thirdly, the development goal of the economic corridor should be set; and finally the priorities of future construction of the economic corridor should be emphasized.
