Research Report, Special Issue, No.44, 2018 (Total 1611) 2018-10-26

Abstract: By calculating location entropy and the space Gini coefficient, it is found that Hebei’s logistics industry concentrates in Shijiazhuang, Tangshan and Qinhuangdao, while the rise of Handan and Baoding produces divergent growth of this province’s logistics development. In light of the A-grade logistics enterprises, Shijiazhuang is the most concentrative, while Tangshan, Qinhuangdao, Baoding and Handan stand at the medium and above-medium level of concentration. Generally, the distribution of leading logistics enterprises coincides with the regional economic development level, and the economic strength of different cities directly or indirectly cause the divergence of the logistics development. Hebei’s current logistics development faces the following key challenges: inadequate infrastructure interconnectivity and the low rate of logistics equipment use; the hindering effect of area differences on the building of a strong logistics province; the distorted logistics structure, weak competitiveness, generally low industrial profit rate and susceptibility to the policy environment; lack of innovations in logistics integration and financial models, and inadequate development of private logistics companies; inadequacy in logistics personnel and lack of long-term talent training.
