The Research Institute of Resources and Environment Policies of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) and the Policy Research Center for Environment and Economy of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment(MEE) signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on April 28.

Long Guoqiang, Vice-President of DRC, delivered a speech at the meeting. Long pointed out at the meeting that strengthening the construction of ecological civilization will promote the formation of a new model of modernization with humans developing in harmony with nature, which is a major strategy of the government. To solve major domestic and international problems such as global climate change, global pandemics and the battle against pollution, it is necessary for ecological and environmental think tanks to play their roles and study development strategies and related policies in depth.
Long said that there have been extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation between DRC and the MEE focused on deepening the institutional reform of ecological civilization and promoting the modernization of the ecological and environmental governance system, and that good results have been achieved. The signing of the strategic cooperation framework agreement marks a more institutionalized, regularized and pragmatic cooperation between the two institutions, which will give full play to their respective advantages and provide high-quality decision-making support for construction of ecological civilization.

Zhuang Guotai, Vice-Minister of the MEE, pointed out at the meeting that the signing of the strategic cooperation framework agreement marked a new stage in the cooperation between the two sides. He hopes that the two institutions will adhere to the correct political direction and address the key and difficult issues in the high-quality economic and social development and in the high-level protection of the ecological environment. In accordance with the idea of "play the advantages, support each other, produce win-win outcomes and achieve common development", the two sides will carry out research at a high level to provide a basis for national decision-making, act as good counselors, and promote the development of ecological and environmental protection policy.
The ceremony was held by videoconference with the participation of representatives of the two institutions.
