Research Report, No. 99, 2020 (Total 5843) 2020-5-8

Abstract: Promoting cross-regional industrial collaboration is an important strategic measure for driving coordinated and high-quality development of domestic regions. The old revolutionary base areas located at the juncture of Hunan and Jiangxi provinces have developed solid cross-regional industrial collaboration with highly connected and strongly complementary industries enjoying huge growth potential. In the new era, the old revolutionary base areas are seeking high-quality development through coordinated industrial development, promoting sound competitions based on mutual assistance and enrichment and improving the overall competitiveness of local economy. However, the cross-regional industrial collaboration of the old revolutionary base areas still face some problems including insufficient capability for coordination, weak support by productive factors, and unsophisticated mechanisms for industrial collaboration. It is necessary for the local governments to better coordinate regional resources, boost advantageous industries with distinctive local features, enhance industrial competitiveness through joint efforts, step up the support of industrial factors, consolidate the foundation of industrial collaboration, and improve the cooperation mechanisms for industrial collaboration. In addition, the Central Government needs to provide strategic support to local governments.
