Abstract: According to the research findings collected by DRC research team from questionnaire survey conducted in 2019 on people’s livelihood, some positive progress has been made in improving the living environment in rural areas, but there are still some drawbacks associated with housing conditions, drinking water safety and sewage treatment due to the weak foundation and sluggish development in rural areas. As a result, the growing satisfaction of rural residents is still relatively slow. In some areas, it is difficult to conduct toilet renovation. With the improvement of living standard and the transformation of production mode, the disposal of excrements becomes a prominent problem. The quality of water in rural areas has improved obviously, but the quality of drinking water in some areas still needs to be improved. The low quality of water directly affects the rural respondents’ sense of benefits. The inconvenient transportation is the most prominent problem that troubles rural respondents. It is still difficult to collect and dispose rural domestic sewage. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the weak links of transportation, choose proper disposal methods of excrements according to local conditions, and design the ecological treatment mechanism of domestic sewage to improve the level of domestic water supply in rural areas.
