Ma Jiantang, Secretary of Party Leadership Group of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), met with Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore’s Ambassador to China, on Feb 9.
They exchanged views on China’s economic and social development during the 14th Five-Year (2021-25) Plan period, bilateral economic and trade relations, and regional economic cooperation, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Ma said that 2020 is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. In recent years, DRC has maintained good exchanges and cooperation with relevant Singapore institutions and is willing to continue to work with Singapore to promote the all-round cooperation between the two countries.

Lui congratulated China on its achievements in the epidemic control and economic recovery and social development. He said he is willing to strengthen experience sharing with China under the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly safeguard multilateralism.

The two sides also reached a preliminary agreement on the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between DRC and the Ministry of National Development of Singapore, and will continue to carry out exchanges and cooperation in areas of mutual concern such as urbanization, urban development, social governance and social security.
