Research Report, No.16, 2021 (Total 6081) 2021-2-8

Abstract: Economies such as the United States, Europe, Japan and North Korea have built a self-led international production network. By relying on international industrial cooperation, their industrial competitive advantage and their status in the global value chain have become strongly enhanced, and their experience is highly relevant to China in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative-based industrial capacity cooperation. The above-mentioned economies have much in common in promoting the goals, entities, industrial foundations and effects in terms of international industrial cooperation, while they differ in the historical backgrounds, ways of advancement, and business entities in building international production network. They have experienced both pros and cons in the course of promoting international industrial cooperation. With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, more meticulous efforts need to be in place. In face of the volatile and complicated world situation in the new era, China needs to draw on foreign experience, go after gain and avoid harm in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative-based industrial capacity cooperation, consolidate the industrial foundation, enhance the level of participation in cooperation and build a mutually beneficial and win-win industrial capacity cooperation network, so as to further promote China’s position in the regional and global value chain.
