Abstract: Since the 18th CPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping has put forward a series of new requirements for the appraisal and evaluation of cadres’ working performance, emphasizing the need to reform and improve the system and make good use of the appraisal results. Many good practices and typical experience have been made or gained in Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces over the past years through down-to-earth work. For example, efforts have been made on paying equal attention to Party building and high-quality development performance appraisal; on establishing the benchmark for performance evaluation guided by the new development concept; on giving true and accurate evaluation for leading cadres’ as well as ordinary cadres’ performance in a comprehensive, three-dimensional and perspective way; on encouraging cadres to maintain a progressive attitude through correct guidance; and on adhering to the systematic thinking and constantly strengthening the overall planning of appraisal work. For the appraisal and evaluation of cadres’ working performance in the new era, we need to firmly follow the political direction, take the Party’s organizational line in the new era as the guideline, and strengthen our political consciousness and action consciousness in upholding General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and upholding the Party Central Committee’s authority and its centralized and unified leadership. We need to optimize the appraisal system, adhere to the system concept, and give a boost to the work of all regions and departments to fully, accurately and comprehensively implement the new development concept. We need to refine the appraisal methods to enhance mutual promotion and progressive linkage of organizational performance and cadres’ working performance based on true and accurate evaluation. We need to choose the right person for the right job in light of his performance, highlight practice standards and actual achievements, and intensify efforts to make cadres become motivated and get things done.
