Abstract: As one of the newly-emerged driving forces to promote the domestic economic circulation since the launch of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), digital platforms has greatly enhanced the efficiency of commodity production, circulation and distribution, stimulated the domestic consumption demand of the whole society and accumulated experience relating to technology, capital, data and talents for the industrial advancement of digital economy. However, in light of their participation in international economic activities, there are only a few digital platforms involved in overseas business and the effects of driving domestic industries to go global are yet to be improved. Most of the foreign trade businesses rely on the export channels based on the digital platforms of other countries and efforts are needed to narrow the gap with the international digital platforms in terms of global resource allocation capabilities. In the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), policy support needs to be intensified to underpin the operation of the five major digital platforms’ international businesses so as to forge ahead with the internationalization of digital platforms amid the new development pattern. Besides, major efforts need to be made to explore new frontiers of development in countries along the One Belt and One Road routes, inject new impetus into dual circulations and promote the outward development of domestic industrial chains in a bid to gain a bigger say in digital economic development and enhance China’s international influences in digital field.
