Abstract: China’s efforts to establish a high-quality enterprise cultivation pattern are conducive to accurately solving the structural problems of industrial organizations prevailing in manufacturing industry. In the echelon structure, the role of leading enterprises’ performance in the industrial chain are of particular importance as they could likely become the industrial chain masters and the leaders of industrial ecology and hopefully, push ahead with the common development of high-quality enterprises at middle to upper rung of industrial chain such as flagship enterprises and those with advanced technologies in the world. As a typical case, medical imaging equipment industry needs to help leading enterprises to play the leading role in industrial chain. At present, China’s leading enterprises are faced with several problems including the relatively weak driving force and leading role as well as weak global brand influence. With regard to these facts, the paper notes that we need to further clarify the policy orientation to cultivate the leading role of medical imaging equipment enterprises in the industrial chain and accelerate the cultivation of one or two leading enterprises in the four major equipment industrial chains including CT, MRI, DR, and ultrasound; on the premise of fair competition, we need to render support to leading enterprises for market access; we need to foster a favourable industrial ecology in the global range; we need to assist the leading enterprises in enhancing their brand awareness and influence.
