Research Report, No.391, 2021 (Total 6456) 2021-12-15

Abstract: In recent years, the hub-based economy has drawn more attention and been applied in more localities in the regional development practice. Developing the hub-based economy is Jiangxi’s necessary approach to fully leveraging its geographical location for transport advantage in linking the adjacent provinces and the rivers and the sea. Currently, Jiangxi has made remarkable progress in its regional development layout, transport conditions, logistics-hub strength, industrial development and opening-up strategy implementation, which helps lay a solid foundation for the province’s hub-based economy. Meanwhile, Jiangxi also faces a series of problems such as fierce regional competition with neighboring provinces, high logistics costs, segmented transport managerial mechanisms, weak services of logistics enterprises and unfair competition between different areas. To accelerate the development of Jiangxi’s hub-based economy, it is necessary to plan the hub-based pattern, launch a campaign to lower logistics costs, strengthen coordination between localities and transport administrative organs as well as enterprises, improve the economic layout, and enhance the soft and hard environment for the hub-based economy.
