The authors of this book carried out comprehensive research on the theories and policies concerning the citizenization of migrant workers, based on a questionnaire sent to more than 6,000 rural migrant workers in more than 20 cities and towns in China - and also on field studies in six cities, including Chongqing.

The DRC also conducted in-depth studies in areas such as: the overall situation and development of migrant workers, the relationship between citizenization of migrant workers and urban and rural development, the relationship between citizenization of migrant workers and population density, integration of migrant workers into urban society, establishment of the system for equal urban and rural employment, and the public service system, social security system, housing system, fiscal and taxation system, land system and the household registration system that involve the citizenization of rural migrant workers.

The authors suggest ways to accelerate the process of citizenization of migrant workers.
