Asia-Africa Development Research Institute

The Asia-Africa Development Research Institute (AADRI), founded on Jan 18, 1994, in affiliation with the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), is a comprehensive research organization focusing on international issues in Asia and Africa.

Institute responsibilities:

The institute researches development strategies, politics, economics, science and technology, culture and other hot issues in Asia and Africa.

The organization organizes seminars, reports, meetings and academic discussions on Asian and African issues to promote academic communication in domestic scholar circles.

It establishes connections with other academic organizations and international organs in Asia and Africa for research on related issues in these regions. It also takes part in relevant international academic seminars or conferences.

The institute compiles and translates books, documents and information on issues in Asia and Africa.

The institute edits and publishes the Asia & Africa Review, a bi-monthly Chinese journal, and other Chinese and English journals published at irregular intervals.

Since its establishment, the institute has set up communications with research organizations and scholars in many countries and regions, such as the United States, Japan, Republic of Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Laos, Vietnam, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Australia, Jordan, Israel, and the Republic of South Africa.

It just finished a research project with the World Bank and the East-West Center in Hawaii and is working on another joint research project with Japan.

The institute welcomes scholars and experts in universities, research organizations and companies to take part in research. It hosts small- and medium-sized academic seminars on a regular basis to exchange information and research results. There are more than 60 senior researchers and guest researchers in the institute.
