New Progress of German Industry 4.0 Strategy and Implications for China(No.7, 2017)

Abstract: Based on a field survey in Hannover Messe 2016, the development of Bosch Group in Humboldt and the construction of German Industry 4.0 platform, the paper gives an analytical illustration of German Industry 4.0, its advanced global supplier strategy as well as its leading strategy in domestic market. It holds that German Industry 4.0 Strategy is enjoying more and more influence in the international community, taking effect in domestic application and pushing forward the construction of public service system. The relevant enlightenments and implications for China are as follows. 1. Those countries that are taking the lead in intelligent manufacturing are actively making pilot practice for further progress through coordinated cooperation. 2. China needs to have a clear understanding of the differences compared with the advanced countries and enhance the awareness to catch up. 3. China needs to have a correct view on the challenges and problems ahead and take a down-to-earth approach in advancing to the medium-high ends of manufacturing industry. 4. It is an important way to realize intelligent development by renovating and upgrading the present factories. 5. As policy environment is an important factor for manufacturing development and to respond to international competition, China needs to improve policy coordination and formulate and implement targeted and meticulous measures.
