Research Report, No.101, 2018 (Total 5376) 2018-6-22

Abstract: Over the past five years, the visions and actions document of the “Belt and Road” Initiative has, since its release, achieved gratified results beyond people’s expectations. But it should be noted that the further advance of the “Belt and Road” Initiative is also facing relevant challenges and risks. Therefore, DRC sent a research team on a study tour to Turkey in late April 2018. Team members held discussions respectively with the Strategic Research Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, the Investment Support and Promotion Bureau of the Prime Minister's Office, the Political and Economic Society Research Foundation and other government and social institutions, organized a symposium with China-funded enterprises, and made a field survey in ICBC Turkey branch. In view of the research results, the development of the “Belt and Road” has made great progress whereas relevant challenges and risks are gradually looming up. To promote the further development of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, we need to focus on strategic issues, strengthen cooperation with countries with strategic importance, give prominence to key cooperation areas, bring into full play the main role of the enterprise, enforce risk prevention and control capacity, improve the financial support system, and enhance the operation capacity of China-funded enterprises.

Key words: the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the strategic importance, prevent the risks, Turkey
