Abstract: Poverty alleviation and rural governance are in agreement with the overall objective of rural revitalization and jointly play a fundamental and guiding role in the implementation of rural strategy. Poverty alleviation promotes the optimization of rural governance structure, enhances social governance in rural areas, and improves and optimizes the rural governance ecology. Although some achievements have been made in coordinated promotion of poverty alleviation and rural governance, some challenges remain to be addressed. The similarities and differences between the two have not been clarified, and the concept, plan, policy and organizational system for coordinated promotion have not been established. In order to effectively promote poverty alleviation and rural governance and let the two become integrated with and complement each other, future efforts need to focus on the effective connection of poverty alleviation and rural governance, carry on coherent concepts to lay a solid ideological foundation for coordinated promotion, make coherent plans to clarify an effective path for coordinated promotion, implement coherent policies to provide effective guarantee for coordinated promotion and put into effect organizational arrangements to provide strong support for coordinated promotion.
