Abstract: Since the 18th CPC National Congress and under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, the government has paid high attention to the cultural development with Chinese characteristics and focused its effort on following a culture-oriented openness approach through further reform and opening up across the board. China’s cultural exchanges with other countries cover various social sectors with diversified communication platforms. Nonetheless, in light of China’s cultural communication performance, its increasing economic power and its future leading position in the world, we need to make improvement in the following fields. We need to enhance the managerial system, publicity partnership and high-caliber personnel for external cultural communications. We need to establish an institution dedicated to coordinating foreign communications and cooperation and build a united and efficient platform for information sharing and cultural exchanges. We need to encourage various social entities to take an active part in international cultural communications. And more feasible policies need to be adopted relating to the improvement of cultural exchanges and the cultivation of personnel and think tanks for the enrichment of cultural cooperation.
