Abstract: Since the launch of the 13th Five-Year Plan in 2016, China’s cultural industry has made rising contributions to ensuring stable economic growth, promoting reforms, bolstering structural adjustment and enhancing people’s well-being. While transforming into a pillar industry of China’s economy, the cultural industry has become a key sector for meeting the demands of the people for a better life with improved quality of life and a strong sense of happiness. However, the development of China’s cultural industry is still in the initial period as the industrial scale, product quality and overall effectiveness remain to be improved and the entire competitiveness waits to be sharpened. To push ahead with the high-quality development of China’s cultural industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), it is necessary to promote the integration of culture with science and technology, boost the innovation-oriented development of the digital and cultural industry, promote the complementary and coordinated development of regional cultural industries in line with national strategies, expand cultural consumption to meet the growing needs of the people, optimize the market environment for the development of the cultural industry and improve relevant policies and regulations of the cultural industry.
