Abstract: The world practice shows that large enterprises’ performance would lead small enterprises to follow suit.  But unconventionally, Chinese enterprises’ going global presents an all-dimentional and wide-ranging style. Relevant experience and lessons suggest that we need to give full play to the positive role of large enterprises in leading the way for going global. The pertinent policy options are raised as follows. We need to cultivate multinational companies with global influence and world-class enterprises with global competitiveness, and through their combination, we need to improve policy environment to support China’s large enterprises to enhance their ability in leading the way for expanding their overseas presence. In this respect, we need to improve the scientific and guiding nature of the supporting policies, encourage large enterprises to enhance globalization management awareness and sustainable development ability, and shore up core enterprises to build and consolidate a global production and operation network by taking the performance of their own as the dominant factor. At the same time, we need to design a reasonable interest coordination mechanism to solve the problem of motivation, and support large enterprises to take the initiative to promote cooperation and coordinated development. Besides, we need to encourage large enterprises to play an exemplary role and take the lead in fulfilling social responsibilities and high-standard operation in accordance with laws and regulations in host countries.
