The Center for International Knowledge on Development (CIKD), the Research Institute of Resources and Environment Policies of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), and the European Climate Foundation (ECF) held a seminar on China-EU cooperation in addressing climate change and advancing green development in Beijing from April 20 to 21.

The seminar aimed to deepen dialogue between Chinese and European think tanks on climate change and green development and promote practical cooperation.

Lu Hao, president of the DRC and CIKD, and Laurence Tubiana,  chief executive officer of the ECF, attended the seminar. They delivered remarks at the opening ceremony, chaired discussions and made concluding remarks.

Participants held in-depth discussions on deepening China-EU cooperation in climate science and building shared understanding, advancing cooperation in green investment and financing, trade, rules and standards, and strengthening international cooperation mechanisms for addressing climate change.

The seminar brought together leading experts and representatives from government departments, think tanks, research institutions, international organizations and enterprises in China and Europe. 

The European participants included senior representatives from the European Climate Foundation, Germanwatch, Climate Policy Initiative, the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy, the Danish Council on Climate Change, the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations, Utrecht University, Sciences Po, the Institut Montaigne, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, and the Children's Investment Fund Foundation.

Among the Chinese participants were Xin Bao'an, chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization; Zhu Tong and Chen Fahu, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Wang Xin, director-general of the Research Bureau of the People's Bank of China; and representatives from the National Development and Reform Commission, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd and the Beijing Power Exchange Center.

Relevant sessions were chaired by Long Guoqiang, vice president of the DRC, and Zhang Qi, vice president of the DRC and executive vice-director of CIKD. Yu Jun, director-general of the DRC's Department of International Cooperation, Gao Shiji, director of the Research Institute of Resources and Environment Policies, Wang Jinzhao, executive vice-director of CIKD, and other officials also attended the seminar.
