The Department of Innovative Development studies China's innovation-driven development strategies, policies and institutional reform; the development of national and regional innovation systems; digital technology innovation and the digital economy; high-tech industries and green technology innovation; and international science and technology development, open innovation, competition and cooperation. It conducts techno-economic evaluations, especially of major science, technology and construction projects, and puts forward corresponding policy advice and recommendations.
