The Institute for Enterprise Research is a public institution directly under the DRC. Its main responsibilities are to: (1) study policy issues relating to the reform and development of Chinese enterprises and provide high-quality consulting services for central decision-making; (2) while ensuring completion of tasks assigned by the central authorities and policy research projects arranged by the DRC, provide consulting services on enterprise-related issues to local governments, major enterprises, public organizations and international institutions; (3) focus on enterprise institutions and the business development environment, including the theory and practice of corporate governance, reform and development of State-owned enterprises, development of small, medium and micro enterprises, enterprise evaluation, enterprise innovation, digital transformation, internationalization, and the assessment and improvement of the business environment; (4) carry out other activities related to enterprise policy research and consultation in strict accordance with DRC regulations; and (5) undertake other tasks assigned by the DRC.
